Accutron Railroad Approved c.1969

$0.00

When Bulova’s Accutron tuning fork line hit the market in 1960, it was well-known that they were the most accurate watches in the world.

Throughout most of industrial America’s history the most accurate pocket watches (and later wristwatches) were specified for the railroad industry in particular. What, then, would make for one heck of a historically-relevant timepiece?

A Bulova Accutron Railroad Approved tuning fork model.

This timepiece takes the traditional monochrome aesthetics of railroad watches and throws in blue and red metallic finishes on the hands for quite the wonderful appeal. While the sweep hand has long since faded in nicely, the blued hour and minute hands are as noticeable as ever when caught in the slightest reflection of light.

With loads of black dialed and bezeled watches floating about these days, vintage and modern, this is one of those uniquely modest watches that would be right at home in the finest of collections.

[All vintage watches are expected to function as described. However, due to age and generally unknown service history (unless otherwise stated), these watches may not keep time as accurately as new or quartz (battery) watches. This is completely normal and does not indicate that there is a major problem. Like your automobile, all mechanical watches will likely need to be serviced at some point in time. Please keep this in mind, as there is no guarantee regarding when these vintage watches may need standard maintenance. Every watch sold by Buying On Time is done so with the expectation that it is not currently in need of service or repair, unless noted. We guarantee that all watches sold are accurately described and in the stated condition when they leave our hands.]
